Workshops To Help Prevent Fish Diseases in Baitfish and Aquaculture Industries
Beginning May 2009 through June of 2010, the North Central Regional Aquaculture Center will support six workshops throughout the Great Lakes region to develop specific fish disease Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans.
By using biosecurity principles in the aquaculture industry, the risk of Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia (VHS) introduction and spread to fish farms will be reduced, protecting these farms against a number of fish disease pathogens.
Sponsors include USGS Upper Midwest Environmental Science Center, Iowa State University-CFSPH, Michigan State University, Michigan Sea Grant, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point/ NADF, and Wisconsin Aquaculture Association.
Registration fee: $15/person. See: Workshop Schedule and Biosecurity Brochure
