Michigan Sea Grant's Ann Arbor Staff Earns National Awards

Michigan Sea Grant recently received three awards for product excellence from the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC), and the Association for Communication Excellence in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Life and Human Sciences (ACE).

Recognition from NAGC includes a Gold Screen Award for Fisheries Learning on the Web, an online curriculum about the Great Lakes ecosystem; and a Blue Pencil Award for the classroom poster series Great Lakes Most Unwanted, which highlights the problem of aquatic invasive species. The poster series also received a Silver Award from ACE, earning high marks for effective design and communication.

Pictured above are Michigan Sea Grant staff who contributed to the products, including Todd Marsee, senior graphic artist; Elizabeth LaPorte, project director; Anuja Mudali, program assistant; and Joyce Daniels, scientific editor. Anna Switzer, education specialist, was not available for the photo.

Michigan Sea Grant is a cooperative program between the University of Michigan and Michigan State University that promotes sustainability of the Great Lakes. Michigan Sea Grant is part of a network of 30 Sea Grant College Programs in coastal states throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
