Ecorse Project

The City of Ecorse's gem along the Detroit River is called John D. Dingell Park. It faces Mud Island -- that was recently donated by National Steel Corporation to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for inclusion in the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and preservation for recreation and natural resource conservation. Dingell Park also has spectacular views of freighters.

Dingell Park recently received major improvements thanks to $250,000 from the Ecorse City millage and $250,000 raised from Wayne County. Improvements included work on the board walk and general upgrading of the entrances to Dingell Park. Among other key improvements, an enhanced play area was created adjacent to the north entrance and expanded planting beds and additional trees were placed around several areas of the park. Dingell Park is truly a special place Downriver and is a unique destination along the Lake St. Clair to Lake Erie greenway trail.
