UAW-GM Riverfront Joint Training Center

Strikingly visible from the Detroit River, the new UAW-GM Center for Human Resources opened in early 2001. The modern education and training complex features 900 feet of riverfront greenway on 16 acres of land between Atwater Street and the Detroit River.

This state-of-the-art office complex will serve as the national headquarters for United Auto Workers (UAW) and General Motors Corporation (GM) joint programs and activities focused on health and safety, training and skill development, employee educational opportunities, work and family support, and product quality.

A seven-story office tower with an adjacent three-story training tower and a 400-seat auditorium will anchor the complex. Since 1984, GM and the UAW have committed approximately $3 billion toward education and training, making the UAW-GM Center for Human Resources the largest privately funded educational program in the world. The new complex will play a role in improving quality of life, promoting community pride, and furthering Detroit's economic renewal.
