Workshops

Training workshops for Marina operators will focus on practical, common-sense tips for controlling pollutants associated with recreational boating operation, maintenance and storage, as well as an overview of relevant environmental laws and regulations.

Participating marina operators will have an opportunity to learn about proper management practices and environmental stewardship. One-day workshops will be scheduled based on interest and availability. If individual marinas are interested in obtaining training materials without attending a workshop, they will need to contact a Clean Marina representative for more details. All training events will include presentations, a Clean Marina guidebook, supporting documentation, and Clean Boating tip sheets. Individuals interested in hosting a training event should contact a Clean Marina representative.

Participating marinas will be rewarded for their voluntary stewardship through designation as a Michigan Clean Marina. Through this program, marinas, recreational boaters, and the State of Michigan all help to preserve and enhance Michigan’s natural resources.

The Michigan Clean Marina Program is a public-private partnership between Michigan Sea Grant College Program, Michigan Boating Industries Association and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. The Program supports the management of profitable businesses, while protecting and enhancing the quality of Michigan's waterways.
